A man named Richard Wurmbrand was a Christian man living quietly when a group of communists wanted to talk to a large group of Christians, he decided that he and his wife would attend, just to see what they were saying. While they were there, they saw Christians converting to communism. His wife said, “Stand up for Jesus, Richard.” He replied, “If I do, you will no longer have a husband.” She said, “I do not want a coward for a husband.” He nodded and went up on stage and started preaching about Christ. One of the officers said, “your right to speak has just been withdrawn!” He ignored him. They cut the microphone, he kept preaching, he started a chant, JESUS! JESUS! JESUS! JESUS!

He was taken away to prison where they brainwashed him and tortured him beyond belief for 11 years, just trying to get him to deny Christ. He never did. Finally, he was released. He went back in to ministry and was eventually again turned in. He went back to the same silent, underground, isolation cell for another five years! After this he was released and he fled to the states to start a business called Voice of the Martyrs. He is now converting people just like his torturers everyday. He now says he has grown to feel sorry and love his torturers. He said that he will not fully describe the cruelty of which took place in that prison, for it would disturb us too much. This man might be the most impressive story I have ever heard about someone standing up for Jesus Christ.
