In 1855, a group of counter-Christians busted into a Christian family’s house. The mom was sick and couldn’t fight, but the other 5 people didn’t resist. The guard grabbed the youngest girl, a seven year old, and looked her in the eye and said, “let me hear you scream!” and held a candle under her arm for about a minute, and literally burned a hold all the way to the bone! But she didn’t make a sound, she just stared back at him and then once he pushed her back, she said, “are you done, or do you want to burn me some more?” (Remember, she is a seven year old girl!) he then replied, “oh, trust me, you will be burned more!”
Less than a week later, the entire family of seven was burned at the stake in public. Bystanders were awed by their courage, though. They were singing the entire time. They didn’t stop until they were dead. For a while after they died, everybody just stood there in silence.
I think that the guards realized that what they were doing was wrong. I bet you that if we follow the guards in the next year or so, they were converted. I have so much respect for those people burned at the stake, I don’t think I can rightfully explain it on paper. That is an amazing story.
